Why a target beats a “compression level”
Upload forms don’t ask for “medium compression” — they reject anything over 100KB, 500KB or 2MB. This tool works the other way round from normal compressors: it first tries a lossless rewrite, and only if that misses your limit does it binary-search render scale and image quality, keeping the highest quality that still fits. If a plain quality-based compression is all you need, that tool is still there.

Can you really guarantee 100KB?
For almost every document, yes. We keep lowering render scale and JPEG quality until the output fits, and tell you the smallest size achievable if a very long document can't reach your target.
Will text get blurry?
If a lossless rewrite already fits your target, text stays vector-sharp with zero quality loss. Otherwise we pick the highest quality that fits, and grayscale mode keeps text much crisper at tiny targets.
Which size should I pick for a job or visa application?
Most government and university portals cap uploads at 100KB, 500KB or 2MB — check the form's note and pick the matching preset, or type a custom number in KB.
Is my file uploaded?
No. Rendering and compression happen entirely in your browser; the PDF never leaves your device.
