How to Compress a PDF Under 100KB

Government portals often cap uploads at 100KB — here's how to hit that target.

Quick steps

  1. Open target-size compression. Go to pdfoncall.com/compress-to-size.
  2. Add your PDF. Choose a PDF from your device.
  3. Set the target. Select 100KB and review the resulting size and legibility. The tool may report that the target is unreachable.
  4. Download and check size. If still over 100KB, split first to fewer pages and re-compress.

Why 100KB?

Many government portals (visa applications, university uploads, exam registration in India and the EU) cap uploads at 100KB. Hitting that number lets your form actually submit.

Tips for hitting the target

  • Convert to grayscale first if the form allows it.
  • Reduce to only the pages required — use Split PDF.
  • Target-size compression rasterizes pages and may remove selectable text. OCR only exports separate text; it does not prevent this.

Photo of an ID?

Start from a JPG (not a full scan), then convert JPG to PDF — much easier to hit 100KB.
